Thank you for viewing my online portfolio. My name is Marisa, and I work as a Technical Apparel Designer in New York City.

My post graduate career in the fashion industry started in the luxury sector, working as a Couture Design Assistant at Marchesa. While at Marchesa, I had the opportunity to work on not only the design process, but also the production process, for some of the beautiful gowns seen at red carpet events and award shows. The process of creating clothing is something I found I deeply enjoyed, which is what led me to my current role as a Technical Designer for Onia. Now, I work with both Men’s and Women’s ready to wear and help transform what starts as a sketch into a fully finished product. I take pride in helping to create a garment that fits well and has a high quality standard. I think that fashion is not only a way for people to express themselves, but something that can foster confidence, community, and fun.

My desire to work in fashion stemmed from my love for drawing, painting, and being creative. I attended Kent State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design in 2019. During my undergraduate career I had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, as well as complete classes and work a summer internship in New York City. These experiences deepened my understanding of and respect for the entirety of the design process and the creation of clothing.

When I’m not doing something fashion-related, you can find me exploring New York and its multitude of restaurants, heading a pilates class, or traveling to and from Chicago, which is where I am originally from.
