about me

Hi and welcome to my online portfolio!

My name is Marisa and I work as a Technical Apparel Designer in New York City.

Having wanted to work in fashion since age seven, my desire to work in the fashion industry stemmed from my love for drawing, painting, and being creative. I attended Kent State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design in 2019. During my undergraduate career I had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, as well as complete classes and work a summer internship in New York City. These experiences deepened my understanding of and respect for the entirety of the design process and the creation of clothing.

My career in the fashion industry started in luxury, with my summer internship and first post graduate job being at Marchesa as a Couture Design Assistant. While at Marchesa, I saw first hand what it takes to pattern and make the beautiful gowns seen at red carpet events and award shows. My love for this process is what led me to become a Technical Designer, which is my current role at Onia. I work on both Men’s and Women’s ready to wear and help transform what starts as a sketch into a fully finished product. I think that fashion is not only a way for people to express themselves, but something that can foster confidence, community, and fun.

When I’m not working, you can find me doing some type of active activity, trying to master a new recipe, or traveling to and from Chicago, which is where I am originally from.
